The first recorded case of a performing actor occurred in 534 BC when the Greek performer Thespis stepped onto the stage of the Theater Dionysus and spoke words as a character in a play. We continue to honor Thespis today by frequently dubbing actors thespians. SCCT has discovered that Silver City has no shortage of thespians: some very experienced and others not at all. What they all have in common is a desire to be on the stage and act. Our productions are living proof that open auditions work and community theater is alive and well.
